What are the library's hours?

The library’s hours of operation are as follows:

 

  • Monday: 9:00 am to 8:00 pm
  • Tuesday: 9:00 am to 8:00 pm
  • Wednesday: 9:00 am to 5:00 pm
  • Thursday: 9:00 am to 8:00 pm
  • Friday: Closed
  • Saturday: 9:00 am to 4:00pm
  • Sunday: Closed 

Where is the library located?

The library’s address is 105 B College St, White House, TN 37188. We are at the corner of HWY 31W and WHY 76 right next to city hall.

How do I apply for a library card?

All city of White House residents are eligible for a library card at no cost.  To apply, simply present proof of your identity and current address at the Circulation Desk.  Children under the age of 17 must be present when their parents sign for them.

Those that live outside of the city limits may obtain a library card at a cost of $10 for adults and $5 for those under 17. If children live outside the city but still attend school in White House, they may obtain a card for free. Those that work for the city, own property in the city, or work for a school in the city may also obtain a card for free.

Individuals that live outside the state may obtain a temporary card at a cost of $15 dollars for three months or $25 for six months. A valid ID must still be presented to apply.

What type of items does the library checkout?

The library offers the following for home checkout: Books, Audio books, Magazines, DVDs, Music CDs, Puzzles, Board Games, Video Game, Children Plush Sets, Kindles, Tablets, Hot Spots, and Children Tablets. For in house use, the library offers the following: Computers, Laptops, OSMO kids game. The library also offers digital comic book checkouts through our Comicsplus database as well as ebooks through our READS program.

Do I have to bring an item back to the library to renew it?

No. You may renew items over the phone during regular library hours by calling 615-672-0239 or online through your online account. Items may only be renewed twice unless they are on hold for another person. Items that have a hold are not eligible for renewal.

How do I access my account online?

Click here (http://srpl-servers.org:8080/?config=whitehouseinn#section=home). The number on the back of your library card is your User ID (WHI must be in uppercase followed by zeros); while the last 4 digits of your phone number are the PIN. We recommend you change your PIN after logging in. You can search our catalog, renew your items, and place items on hold on this account.

Does the library have quiet closed off rooms for me to use?

Yes. The library has study rooms available for use. Rooms only hold between 6 and 10 people. Individuals without a library card may check out a room with a photo ID. Rooms 1 and 2 can be reserved one month in advance by calling the library at 615-672-0239 or through the city app.

Can I print an email, document, or picture at the library?

Yes. You may print black-and-white pages for $0.20 per page and color pages for $0.50 per page. You will need to check out a computer at the front desk with your library card. If you do not have a library card, you may be eligible for a guest pass.

Can I scan a document to my email?

Yes. Individuals may scan documents from the printer to an email. The cost is $0.50 for each scan. The copier can scan between 10 to 20 pages in one scan depending on paper thickness.

Does the library offer fax services?

Yes. Faxes cost $1.00 per page regardless of being local or long distance.

Does the library offer one-on-one help with computers, resumes, and other tech devices?

Yes. The library offers one-on-one sessions on Monday afternoons and evenings by appointment only. Please call 615-672-0239 to schedule an appointment now.

Does the library offer free WIFI?

Yes. To connect to the library’s WIFI, select one of our Internet names and click connect. By clicking continue you agree with our policies and are given access to the Internet.

Does the library offer exam proctoring?

Yes. The library will proctor exams for schools as well as the TWRA Boating Exam. All exams must be scheduled in advance by calling 615-672-0239. A $10.00 type 600 boating exam permit must be purchased before taking the TWRA Boating Exam. This permit may be purchased where ever a hunting /fishing license is sold.  No one under the age of 11 may take TWRA Boating Exam.

Do you have tax forms at the library?

Yes. IRS tax forms and instruction books are available free-of-charge at the library from the beginning of January through mid-April.

Does the library have voter registration forms?

Yes. The library has voter registration forms that patrons may fill out and mail.

Can I donate books to the library?

Yes. The library gladly accepts new or gently used books, movies (DVDS and Blue Rays only), magazines, and audio books. All donations must be in good condition from a smoke-free home. The library will not accept encyclopedias, Reader's Digest condensed books, or textbooks. The library will not accept books with yellowed pages, stains, water damage, or offensive odors. Donated items must be free of dirt and excessive dust.
