Salaries
Salaries throughout the City of White House are highly
competitive with private sector and other local governmental entities. There
is a minimum and maximum salary within each pay range to
allow for upward mobility.
Exempt versus Non-Exempt
The city employs “Exempt” as well as “Non-Exempt”
employees, as defined by the Fair Labor Standards Act. The non-exempt
employees’ work week is based on a 40 hour schedule. Any hours worked above
40 are paid at time and a half of the regular hourly rate in accordance with
federal wage & hour laws. Public service employees’ work week hours may
vary. Exempt positions are “exempt from overtime” and employees in these
positions are expected to work the hours necessary for successful completion
of work obligations. The exempt employees’ work week is based on a 40 hour
schedule.
Merit Based Pay Plan
The city believes in rewarding individual performance and
has instituted a “pay-for-performance” evaluation system. Annually scheduled
performance evaluations are conducted and employees are eligible for pay for
performance consideration as a result of the evaluation rating.
