The City of White House is governed by a Board of Mayor and Aldermen. The Mayor is elected at-large while the four Aldermen who are elected by wards. This governing body is responsible for deciding on the city's policies and procedures by passing Resolutions, Municipal Ordinances, and Municipal Code all of which are implemented by the city departments.
The City Administrator oversees the City's nine departments whose 2011 - 2012 total budget was $22,337,507. The City's property tax rate is $1.01 per $100 of assessed values for Robertson County and $0.98 per $100 of assessed values for Sumner County.
In 2012, the City of White House received a AA- rate from Standard and Poor's rate services. Due to this high rating, the City was able to refinance a $2,435,000 loan at a lower rate saving approximately $250,000.
