Applying for a Library Card

To apply for a library card, adults 17 years of age and older must provide:

A valid picture ID with current addressOR

A valid picture ID and proof of address

Juveniles 16 years of age and under may apply for a library card with a parent or legal guardian acting as the responsible party. The parent or legal guardian must present a valid picutre ID and proof of address. The parent or legal guardian and the jevnile must both be present at the time of application. By signing the application, the parent or legal guardian agrees to accept full respohnsibility for any items borrowed, damaged, or lost, and any fines incurred on the juvenile card.

 

Residents

  • All adult and juvenile residents of the City of White House may apply for a free library card. A free library card will also be issued to individuals:
  • Employed by the City of White House (must present proof of employment)
  • Owning property in the City of White House (must present proof of ownership)
  • Teaching at a school in the City of White House (must present proof of employment)
  • Attending school in the City of White House (must present school ID or school library card) which include:
    • H. B. Williams Elementary School
    • White House Middle School
    • White House High School
    • Robert F. Woodall Primary School
    • White House Heritage School
    • Christian Community Schools

 

Non-Resident

Tennessee residents living outside the city limits of White House who do not meet any of the above criteria are eligible for a non-resident card. The annual fee for a non-resident card for adults 17 years of age and older is $10. The annual fee for a non-resident card for juveniles 16 years of age and under is $5. The annual fee must be paid to activate the card. The card will be valid for one year.


Using Your Library Card

With your library card you have access to over 24,000 items as well as downloadable eBooks and audiobooks. The first time you use your library card, you may check out one book, audiobook, music CD, or back issue of a magazine. When you return the first item you check out, you may check out up to 40 items on an adult card and 25 items on a juvenile card. Movies may be checked out free-of-charge once you’ve had your library card for 30 days. The following limits apply:

  • 4 juvenile audiobooks per card
  • 5 adult audiobooks per card
  • 5 music CDs per card
  • 5 magazines (back-issues) per card
  • 2 plush sets (book with stuffed animal) per household
  • 4 movies per household
